Bloody Meetings

I like Leon Gettlers' Management Blog in the Age. Here he talks about the Chinese Water Torture of Meetings. One of the great things about my job is that I seem to avoid most meetings. I enjoy short meetings with clients, but most other organisational meetings, you can keep.

He has a very refreshing and interesting style. Well worth a look.

I don't get to go to many meetings either (fortunately). There are some things you miss out on though: it's been ages since I had a chance for a decent game of bullshit bingo, for one.

What's an Adelaide boy doing reading The Age?

Unpremeditated

Funny you should talk about bullshit bingo. My colleague just passed me a card yesterday. I would be really bad and out of practice.

It is not a Murdoch rag and is overall a much better online newspaper. I do read the Advertiser from time to time, but it really is a bit of comic.

I'm with you on this one. As a head of department in a school I was once forced to hold a departmental meeting when all my staff were off with flu! I minuted: "I discussed it with myself".

Classic Welshcakes. Bureaucracy gone mad.
