I'm an Intellectual Conceptual Funny Bugger (apparently)

Your result for The 3 Variable Funny Test...

the Prankster

(43% dark, 31% spontaneous, 26% vulgar)

Your humor has an intellectual, even conceptual slant to it. You're not pretentious, but you're not into what some would call 'low humor' either. You'll laugh at a good dirty joke, but you definitely prefer something clever to something moist.

You probably like well-thought-out pranks and/or spoofs and it's highly likely you've tried one of these things yourself. In a lot of ways, yours is the most entertaining type of humor because it's smart without being mean-spirited.

China Takes Over Australia in Media Panic Storm

Is Joel Fitsgibbon Raymond Shaw?

Perhaps Chairman Rudd will have something to say as the Aussie media hunt down reds under the bed story angles including taking over entire industries and nefarious intra departmental spying.

Patriotic Aussies (and Andrew Bolt) need to know.

Finally the journalistic pirhanas have something oriental to munch on.

Skywatch Friday

The new shade covers for the temporary grandstand.

The loneliness of the television cameraman. This guy spent the whole day up a huge crane extended into the sky catching all the action for television.

A couple of skywatch photos taken with my not so hot camera phone at the Clipsal Motorsport Festival here in Adelaide last weekend.

Some better pictures of the sky here.

Vale Belmonte Christiani - Master of the Triple Backward Suicide Somersault

Belmonte's father and mother, Ernesto and Emmaline, had 16 children, 10 of whom went on to become circus greats: Oscar, Daviso, Lucio, Belmonte, Mogador and Pietro were joined by sisters Cossetta, Chieta, Ortans and Corcaita in what developed into the most celebrated bareback riding act in Europe in the 1920s and 1930s.

One of their most daring acts was dubbed the "Triple Backward Suicide Somersault", in which three of the brothers, including Belmonte Cristiani, would each circle the top while standing on a galloping horse before somersaulting backwards to land standing on the back of a horse behind, which had, in turn, just been vacated.

I have a hard enough time sitting on a horse. Mindboggling to be cartwheeling between horses. We took the kids to see a family circus a few years ago and the whole family was in on the act from selling tickets, popcorn to performing. Perhaps not as dramatic as the Christiani family, but a great reminder of the creativity of a dying craft and way of life as the canned entertainment from our friend the TV takes over.

Thanks again, the always interesting Telegraph Obituary Section.

The Australian - Photo galleries and slideshows - Salt lake racing

When I was in Salt Lake City I drove over the Great Salt Lake. No racing that day. I am not really a motor nut, but these photos of salt lake racing this weekend near Port Augusta are more appealing than much of the over hyped, over commercial motoring festivals like Clipsal that is just about to take over and shut down much of Adelaide. Just a few enthusiasts and their cars, great scenery and some fun.

Peter Garrett's Bait and Switch

Picture from @theother66 and others

Not everyone is revved up about Peter Garrett. No doubt his one night stand back with the Oils will remind everyone how much he has sold out as a politician.

Photo Hunt: Four

There are four huge supports for the flagpole above Parliament House in Canberra.

And there were four feet and shoes lying on the grass in the sun under it.

YouTube - Freeview: More of the Same Sh#t

Ha Ha So true

It is not really surprising that I have so many social networks. Commercial television in Australia is enough to drive you to drink (or the internet). Some nights I even walk the dog. This bunk about 15 free digital channels is just bunk. More crap, more often. We thought not having Foxtel was good and solved arguments with the kids. This will just make it worse. Arguing about which crap Australian content we should watch.

Thank god for broadband.

Photohunt: Space

When we visisted Canberra recently we went to Kspace, where you can design future homes and spacecraft and view them in 3D. Very cool. Our kids did it twice.

Living in Adelaide, one of the great things is the space that you have when you go to public areas. Very nice. After many years of living in Asia, where everyone is on top of everyone else, I really treasure those open areas with plenty of space.

A Blog is Your Home. Twitter is Happy Hour. So True

To build relationships online, you need a blog and you need a Twitter account. A blog is like your home. It’s where you talk about things that interest you. It’s where people can learn more about you. And it’s how people keep up to date with what’s new in your life.

If your blog is home, Twitter is like happy hour. Imagine walking into a bar and seeing a room full of people. Everyone is standing in groups of three or four people, chatting back and forth. Now imagine that you have a remote control that can pause all of those conversations. That’s what Twitter does. Twitter allows you to dive in and out of each one of those small conversations. You can jump in, share your perspective, and build a relationship with someone new… all without going through that awkward process of introducing yourself.

Traditional social networks are for maintaining relationships. Blogs and Twitter are for building new ones.

Now I know why twitter is better when you are a little drunk.

Porn in the USA: Conservatives are biggest consumers

To get a better handle on other associations between social attitudes and pornography consumption, Edelman melded his data with a previous study on public attitudes toward religion.

States where a majority of residents agreed with the statement "I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage," bought 3.6 more subscriptions per thousand people than states where a majority disagreed. A similar difference emerged for the statement "AIDS might be God's punishment for immoral sexual behaviour."

"One natural hypothesis is something like repression: if you're told you can't have this, then you want it more," Edelman says.

Other than the observation that people generally like pornography, who would ha thought. Hypocrites!

Thanks Mr @stilgherrian
